The Unyon ng mga Manunulat sa Pilipinas (UMPIL) and the Adrian E. Cristobal Foundation proudly announce this year’s Adrian E. Cristobal Lecturer, Dr. Resil Mojares. Mojares will deliver his lecture on February 20, 2013 in Makati City. Details of the lecture as well as the venue will be posted shortly.
The prestigious Adrian Cristobal Lecture Series celebrates the contributions of the esteemed “litterateur, fictionist, playwriting, essayist, satirist, (and) newspaper columnist,” who “lived a public intellectual life.”
“By nature and purpose,” reads the lecture primer, “his writing sought to restore the value of intelligence for the modern and ordinary Filipino reader who, by what he or she consumes in most media, has been thoroughly deprived of it.”
Mojares joins National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario and poet and critic Gemino Abad, who in 2012 and 2011, respectively, were selected by the UMPIL Board and the Foundation, to deliver relevant and engaging thoughts on culture and ideas for this series.
