DLSU opens ‘Comic Convention,’ holds cosplay contest on Jan 25, 2013

Teaser1The Student Media Office (SMO) of the De La Salle University-Manila (DLSU-M) invites everyone to the SMO Comic Convention on Jan. 25, 2013, 12 pm-8 pm, at the Yuchengco Lobby of the DLSU-M.

The SMO Comic Convention is part of the annual “Lasallian Media Week,” a week-long event that showcases various talents of the University’s major student media groups, namely: Ang Pahayagang Plaridel, Green and White, Green Giant FM, Malate Literary Folio, and The LaSallian.

The event aims to strengthen the appreciation of responsive and responsible student media at La Salle.

SMO found it fit to choose “Responsible Digital Citizenship” as the theme of this year’s event as a response to the controversial Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012–which provoked protests from netizens for its supposed unconstitutionality–as well as to promote the “think before you click” paradigm online.

The comic convention expands from its successful debut last year with exciting comic book exhibits, forums with established guest artists, merchandise and display booths. It also features the university’s Cosplay Competition, now on its second year, for students from colleges of universities all over Manila.

Cosplay winners can win up to P 10,000. Interested participants may join and register through this link:
