The Human Development and Poverty Reduction Cabinet (HDPRC) Cluster invites the public to the launching of Boses ng Pagbabago on Feb. 26, 2013, 3-4 pm at Bulwagan ng Karunungan, Department of Education, Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
Boses ng Pagbabago (Voices of Change) describes the efforts of 14 of the 26 agencies in the HDPRC Cluster to address the urgent needs among various sectors of the poor. These actions include, but not limited to,: relocating informal settlers; investing in agricultural development and fisheries; providing technical training for jobs; securing basic health care for the most marginalized; protecting seniors, children, victims of disaster and the disabled; and providing education opportunities for indigenous peoples and the urban poor. More significantly, the book foregrounds the voices of the poor themselves, empowered to lay claim upon government resources to break out of grim and asphyxiating conditions by embarking upon a more hopeful future.
HDPRC is one of the five thematic cluster organized by President Noynoy Aquino under the Executive Order No. 43 on May 13, 2011. With the Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) as its current chair, the HDPRC Cluster focuses specifically on providing direct, substantial, and long-term benefits for the poorest and most vulnerable in Philippine society.
