The Department of Interdisciplinary Studies of Ateneo de Manila University invites you to “Indie Film as Metafilm: Filmmakers Deconstructing Film,” a lecture by Dr. Nicanor G. Tiongson, on March 6, 2013, 6-7:30 pm at Faura AVR, Ateneo, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City.
The lecture is the eighth in the series entitled “The Third Golden Age?: The New Wave Filipino Indie Film, 1999-2012,” of the Ateneo de Manila University’s School of Humanities master class program.
To help prepare students for the lecture, Marion Rivera and Chris Martinez’s film “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank” will be shown before the lecture, 4:30 pm at Faura AVR.
Dr. Nicanor Tiongson is the editor of the Urian Anthology series, a comprehensive history of Philippine cinema from the 1970s to the present.
He was formerly Artistic Director of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Dean of the College of Mass Communication of the University of the Philippines where he is also Professor Emeritus, and a member of the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino. Tiongson obtained his AB in Humanities at the Ateneo de Manila University in 1965 and his Ph.D. in Philippine Studies at the University of the Philippines in 1979.
