The Ortigas Foundation Library presents ‘The Creative Aspects of Bookbinding,’ a lecture by Mark Cockram, on March 11, 2013, 6 pm at the 2nd Floor Ortigas Building, Ortigas Avenue cor. Meralco Avenue, Ortigas Complex, Pasig City.
This lecture discusses the creative aspects of bookbinding, from using traditional materials to manipulating, developing and creating new decorative techniques. A final design is achieved and responds to the text, illustration and mood of the book.
This lecture is recommended for collection librarians, archivists, private collectors, library staff and students.
Mark Cockram has been teaching for 17 years in the UK, France, USA, India, and Japan and has taught many students who have gone on to pursue careers in bookbinding or related disciplines. He specializes in fine and contemporary bookbinding, book art, Bradei binding and box making. He has a wide and extensive knowledge of all types of bookbinding techniques.
