The UP Department of English & Comparative Literature, through the support of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, invites you to attend Triptych: Creative Writing Discussions and Writing U.P., a two-day gathering of creative writing roundtable discussions, site-specific writing in UP Diliman, and a literary reading on March 14-15, 2013 at the Pulungang Claro M. Recto (FC Conference Hall), College of Arts & Letters, University of the Philippines Diliman. This is a satellite event of the 5th Taboan Writers Festival which was held in Dumaguete City last month.
The activities are:
I. ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS (Day 1: March 14, 2013, Thursday, 9-5 pm, FC Conference Hall): Gathering creative writing practitioners and teachers from the Metro Manila universities to discuss the issues and problems they face, both in the classroom and outside it, as writers who teach
9:30 am – Keynote address, “Why I Teach Creative Writing” by Jose Y. Dalisay Jr.
10:00 am – Panel 1, Creative Writing Pedagogies: Sharing teaching strategies in and out of the classroom, revisioning the concept of creative writing in the academe
Speakers: Cristina Pantoja Hidalgo, Dinah Roma, D.M. Reyes
1:00 pm – Panel 2, The Workshop: Exploring more possibilities for the classroom writers’ workshop

• “In Santa’s Workshop: How the Elves Create Stories for Children” by Heidi Eusebio Abad
• “Soul Project: Teaching Creative Writing in the Only Undergraduate Creative Writing Subject in the University of Santo Tomas” by Nerisa del Carmen Guevara

3:00 pm – Panel 3, New Media and Technologies: Considering the available interface as means or material for creative writing

• “Exploring the End” by Carljoe Javier
II. WRITING U.P. (Day 2: March 15, 2013, Friday, 9:00-11:30 am, UP Diliman Campus): Gathering writing students in UP Diliman for a writing activity in selected locations in UP Diliman.
Meeting time and point is 8:30 A.M. at the Magdangal Statue in front of the CAL New Bldg.
III. LITERARY READING (Day 2: March 15, 2013, Friday, 3-5 pm, FC Conference Hall): Readings and performances of selected works by creative writing faculty and students including the output from the Writing U.P. activity
