Winners of Write Green: Premio Ambahan 2013 named

The Bienvenido N. Santos Creative Writing Center of De La Salle University-Manila announces the winners of Write Green: Premio Ambahan 2013, a literary contest open to DLSU undergraduate students. The entry was one (1) good poem, an original work, following the stylistic features of an ambahan, composed in English or Filipino. The theme was landscape and environment.

Write Green: Premio Ambahan 2013 seeks to promote the writing of ambahan as a contemporary expression deep-rooted in our tradition. A short poetic form indigenous to the Hanunuo Mangyans of Mindoro, ambahan consists of seven-syllable lines, mono-rhyme scheme, and images illustrating people’s lives in relation to their natural habitat. Its original language uses an ancient syllabary or a writing system Indic in origin.

Second Prize (Php 3,000)

Stephanie Alexis Gonzaga
Ambahan: “Zaragoza’s Gate”
Third Prize (Php 2,000)
