Met presents artwalk for kids for Riverscapes IN FLUX

The exhibition Riverscapes IN FLUX will be having an exclusive artwalk for children ages 10-17 on April 4, 2013, 3 pm at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila. The show will run until April 13, 2013. The artwalk will be facilitated by artist Christina “Goldie” Poblador, one of the Filipino collaborators of Riverscapes.

Riverscapes IN FLUX is an extensive eco-cultural art project initiated by the Goethe Institut Hanoi. Seventeen artists from six South East Asian countries–Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, Indonesia, and the Philippines–deal with the subject of ecological and cultural change of major river landscapes. Photo series, videos and installations artistically reflect the dramatic changes that the river landscapes and the people living by the streams are currently experiencing. The results are brought together in an exhibition, which opened in April 2012 at the Fine Arts Museum Hanoi and Goethe-Institut Hanoi, and toured through other galleries like the Cactus Contemporary Art at the Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, g23 Art Gallery in Bangkok, and Sa Sa Bassac Gallery in Phnom Penh. On each destination, the exhibition was accompanied by a wide range of activities as film screenings, creative competitions for students, and others.

The project intends to bring the threat on river landscapes and its social and cultural consequences into a new light and to contribute to raise awareness about the ecological and socio-cultural aspects of the environmental changes and the importance of a new, sustainability oriented way of living.
