Dulaang UP offers summer theater workshops


Dulaang UP (DUP), the official performing group of the University of the Philippines, will hold Summer Theater Workshops on April 17-May 17, 2013.

The workshops aim to provide young people an opportunity to explore and experience the processes involved in theater production. DUP will open classes for Basic Acting, Voice, Stage Movement, Mask Making, Property Making, Puppetry, Production Design, Costume Design, and an Overview on the Art of Theater. Participants will have a culminating recital on the last day of classes.

Basic Acting and Crafts Making will provide students with a strong foundation on voice for the theater, stage movement, acting techniques, and basic visual arts for costume and make up for the theater.

Technical Theater Workshop will equip the students with the fundamentals of and practical experience with props, set and costume design.

All these will be facilitated by graduates of Theater Arts from UP and practitioners of Theater in and out of the university.

Dulaang UP enjoys a reputation for producing highly acclaimed productions of well-known masterworks of classical theater as well as original works by Filipino playwrights. It has brought to the Philippine Stage quality productions such as Isang Panaginip na Fili, Orosman at Zafira, Noli Me Tangere: The Opera, Umaaraw, Umuulan Kinakasal ang Tikbalang, Fake, Collection, among many others.

Tuition is at Php 6,500 inclusive of workshop materials and culminating recital. Discounts are available for early bird registrants.
