Shaharazade is holding auditions for the second season of Drafts: Works-in-Progress, an annual theater festival featuring newly-written, unstaged, and original one-act plays, on May 11, 2013, 3-7 pm at the Institute of Social Order Conference Room 2, Ateneo de Manila University.

Seeking to collaborate with artists from various backgrounds all across Metro Manila, the theater company had an open call for new drafts as well as director participation last February-March 2013. Out of the submitted scripts and resumes, the selection for Drafts 2 is as follows:

Who’s Afraid of Annabel Chong?
by Rachelle Rodriguez

A couple meets in a motel room for a session of fun-frenzied sex games. It’s all ooh-la-lah’s and happy-happy-yeah-yeah’s until the name of the legendary pornstar Anabelle Chong comes up. And then it becomes really interesting.

Director: Pat Valera

Pat Valera is a director, dramaturg and playwright for the theater.

A White Picket Fence
by Jay Crisostomo

The war had kept him away from home for a very long time. Excited, he rushes back to finally be reunited with the wife he had left so many years ago. He knocks on the door only to be surprised by the presence of another man, a man his wife now calls husband.

Director: Neil Tolentino

Neil Tolentino is an actor, writer, and director for theater, film, and television. He is a member of Theater Actor’s Guild of the Philippines and is currently working as a dubbing director for ABS-CBN.

The Conversationalist
by Jose Delos Reyes

There is a woman who takes money for favors. But she is not a whore. She is the Conversationalist. For a penny or two she will be anything for you and she will listen, listen to all your fears, broken dreams, and everything in between; that is until time runs out.

Director: Fitz Bitana

Fitz Bitana is a child of the stage, taking on many roles and looking forward to many more years in theater.

Ka-ibigan
by Sebastian Felipe Bundoc

A chance meeting between a boy and a girl along a nameless place. That’s the premise, but everything gets crazier from there. In a short span of time they would learn, re-learn, and forget the meanings of the words love, freedom, and sacrifice. And, the horrible wonderful meanings behind those words.

Director: Rolando Inocencio

Rolando Inocencio returns to Drafts as Director for the second time. He is a character actor for TV (Indio, Dugong Buhay) and movies (Amok); assistant director for movies (The Strangers, Thy Womb); lecturer at MINT College-McKinley and acting coach-in-progress. He’ll be turning half-a-century this year.
