Now on its 38th year, Dulaang UP will be presenting plays that span a wide spectrum of genres.
The upcoming season includes Adarna by Francisco Baltazar, under the direction of Jose Estrella (July 17-Aug. 11, 2013); Duchess of Malfi/Dukesa ng Malfi, under the direction of DUP’s founding artistic director, Professor Emeritus Tony Mabesa (Sept. 18-Oct. 6, 2013); a new play on Andres Bonifacio in celebration of his sesquicentennial directed by DUP’s artistic director, Alexander Cortez (Nov. 20-Dec. 8, 2013); and a musical featuring an all-student cast from Dexter Santos closes the season (Feb. 13-Mar. 2, 2014).
Established in 1976 by Tony Mabesa, Dulaang UP is the country’s premiere academic theater organization. Originally established as the production arm of UP’s Speech Communication and Theatre Arts Program, it has become a quasi-professional group with a regular season. Their office is located at Room 136, Palma Hall, UP-Diliman.
