BIOS Productions invites everyone to a night of creativity as female photographers, visual artists, writers, musicians, and filmmakers present their works on Ylang-Ylang: A Creative Female Fête. The event is scheduled on June 8, 2013, 5 pm onwards at Boho Sarapsody Bistro, 272 Ermin Garcia St. (Aurora Blvd. side), Cubao, Quezon City. Door charge is Php 100 (with free drink).
Featured photographers include Eunice Sanchez and Julia Sombilon, alumnae of the Malate Literary Folio (the official literary and arts publication of De La Salle University-Manila); Kara Ortiga, a writer for the Philippine Star; and Shaira Luna, a freelance photographer who has landed her works on various magazine covers like Shop Mag, Breakfast, and Manila Bulletin’s Style Weekend.
For visual arts, the works of Ina Abuan of the Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo/LIRA (an organization of poets writing in Filipino); and of Malate alumnae and members AK Ocol, Mae Ngo, Paula Aninang, and Pamela Lite will be gracing the walls of the venue.
A poetry and prose reading will be provided by Charms Tianzon of Romancing Venus; Jay Bordon and Gwen Bautista of Bigkas Pilipinas; Christa I. De La Cruz of LIRA; Malate alumnae and members Kim Cantillas, Lavilla Dauag, Nicole Dandan, Risse Flores, Yvette Perez, Demi Ng, Kat Tankeh, Lorri Felizadio, Vyanka Velasquez, and Jeline Malasig; and Wina Puangco of MoarBooks! Publication (an independent publishing house).
Short films “Bitiw” by Jen de los Santos, “Kasamyento” by Bianx Basilio, “Paghilom” by Mayee Baquiran, and “Para kay Ama” by Relyn Tan will be shown during the night. They are all from the UP Cineastes’ Studio, the premier student film organization of the University of the Philippines, Diliman-College of Mass Communication. The film “Para kay Ama” by Tan is a finalist for the Asian Short Film and Video Competition category of the 14th International Woman’s Film Festival on May 24-30, 2013 in Seoul and for the Short film category in the upcoming Cinemalaya 2013.
In-between the readings are musical performances by Andi Lopez, Anj Sulit, Cara Decenteceo, Caren Tevanny, Paraluman, Reese Lansangan, Rizza Cabrera, and Tao Aves.
Four pieces of loudbasstard™ sound amplifier, an all-natural, all Cebuano product made of bamboo and rattan, will be raffled off. MoarBooks! Publication will also be selling their latest titles.
