A New Brain tells the journey of Gordon Schwinn as he battles his rare medical condition through songwriting. Premiered Off-Broadway in 1998, this musical comedy was written by James Lapine and William Finn. The story is almost autobiographical with most of the songs written by Finn after his release from the hospital.
Blue Rep’s production of A New Brain is directed by Toff de Venecia with assistant director Luis Marcelo, co-musical directors Dana Marquez and Gala Sanchez, choreographer Nina De Leon, and assistant choreographer Sam Javier. Completing the artistic staff are CJ Francisco for set design and Meliton Roxas Jr. for lighting.
Heading the cast is Ario Sanchez who plays Gordon Schwinn. With him are: Lara Antonio as Rhoda, Tin Amante and Ciary Manhit alternating for Mimi Schwinn, Gelo Lantaco as Roger, Storm Sevilla as Mr. Bungee, Trish Arcega as a homeless woman, Franco Ramos as Richard, Bryan Mendoza also as Richard, Ber Reyes and Rio Tanchuling alternating for Nancy D and for the waitress role, Ian Hermogenes as the minister, and Wrench Canicosa as Dr. Jafar.
