UPDATED, Oct. 24, 2013–The Cultural Center of the Philippines invites you to watch “Stage Reading: One-Act Plays by the Virgin Labfest Writing Fellows Batch 2012 and 2013” directed by Dennis N. Marasigan on October 27, 2013 at 3 pm at the CCP Tanghalang Huseng Batute. Tickets are sold at a regular price of P100 (for all seven plays), with 50% off to students, at the CCP Box Office, ticketworld.com.ph, and all Ticketworld outlets.
The short plays were first showcased during the culminating activity of the Virgin Labfest Writing Fellowship Program in July 2012 and 2013.
The Fellowship was a two-week mentorship on the study and practice of dramatic writing for the stage. Mentored by award-winning playwright Glenn Sevilla Mas, the fellows attended a series of lectures, script critiquing, writing sessions and interactions with known playwrights and directors in the various halls and theaters of the CCP during the regular run of the Virgin Labfest in both years.
The Virgin Labfest is a highly distinguished annual festival of unpublished, unstaged, untried and untested works of playwrights, directors and actors. It has gained its reputation by producing provocative and outstanding ‘virgin’ plays, most of which have been recognized by the Palanca Awards for Literature.
The Virgin Labfest Writing Fellowship Program is part of the Center’s desire to train young aspiring playwrights. It is a project of the CCP Artist Training Division of the Arts Education Department.
