Kritika Kultura (KK), the international refereed journal of language, literary, and cultural studies of the Ateneo de Manila University, in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, will host the double book launching of two of the journal’s associate editors, on February 15, 2014, 5:00 pm, at the Natividad Galang Fajardo Room, De La Costa Hall, Ateneo de Manila University.
Mark Anthony Cayanan’s Except You Enthrall Me under the University of the Philippines Press is the author’s second full-length poetry collection. His other works include Narcissus (Ateneo de Manila University Press, 2011), and the chapbook Shall We Be Kind and Suffer Each Other (High Chair, 2012). A recent Writing Fellow of the Civitella Ranieri Foundation in Italy, he holds an MFA degree in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
Louie Jon A. Sanchez’s Kung Saan Sa Katawan, released by the University of Santo Tomas Publishing House, is the author’s second poetry collection. His first book, At Sa Tahanan ng Alabok (UST Publishing House, 2010), was nominated at the the Madrigal Gonzales Awards for Best First Book. He holds the distinction of winning the “Makata ng Taon” first prize thrice (2006, 2009, & 2011) at the prestigious Talaang Ginto of the Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino.
Both teach with the Department of English, School of Humanities, Ateneo de Manila University. In KK, Cayanan is associate editor for the literary section, while Sanchez is associate editor for communications.
The event concludes the national literature conference titled “Literature, Region, and the World in K-12”, jointly organised by KK and the Ateneo Center for English Language Teaching (ACELT).
