Call for submissions: LIRA Filipino Poetry Clinic 2014

Binubuksang muli ng Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo (LIRA), samahan ng mga makatang nagsusulat sa wikang Filipino, ang Taunang Klinikang Pampanulaan para sa mga nais lumahok.

Ang lingguhang klase tuwing Sabado at Linggo mula 9:00 n.u. hanggang 5:00 n.h ay tatagal mula Hunyo hanggang Setyembre, subalit magkakaroon pa rin ng iilang klase hanggang Nobyembre. Gaganapin ang mga sesyon sa UP Diliman at iba pang lugar sa Metro Manila.

Dadaan ang mga matatanggap na fellow sa serye ng mga panayam at palihan na magtutuon ng pansin sa iba’t ibang aspekto ng pagtula at panitikan.

Layon ng mabusising pagsasanay ng LIRA na maglinang ng mga makatang hindi lamang mahusay sa kanilang sining, kundi handa ring mag-ambag sa pagpapalago ng panitikan, wika, kultura, at pambansang kaakuhan (national identity). Kabilang ito sa programa na “makata-bolunterismo,” na siyang nagbigay-karangalan sa LIRA bilang isa sa Ten Accomplish Youth Organizations ng bansa noong 2011.

Upang makapagpatala, magpadala ng isang Word Document file na naglalaman ng mga sumusunod: bio-data (na may numero ng telepono/celphone), ID picture, at limang tula sa Filipino sa palihanglira@gmail.com; SUBJECT LINE: LIRA Poetry Clinic 2014. (Hindi tatanggapin ang mga tulang nakasulat sa Ingles at ibang wika.) Ang huling araw ng pagpapatalâ ay ang ika-30 ng Abril, 2014.

Itinatag ang LIRA ng Pambansang Alagad ng Sining sa Panitikan Virgilio S. Almario (a.k.a. Rio Alma) noong 1985. Sa mga palihan ng LIRA nagmula ang mga batikang makata tulad nina Rebecca T. Añonuevo, Roberto T. Añonuevo, Romulo P. Baquiran Jr., Michael M. Coroza, at Vim Nadera, pati ang mga nakababatang premyadong manunulat tulad nina Jerry Gracio at Edgar Calabia Samar. Si Dr. Coroza ng Ateneo de Manila University ang tumatayong direktor ng palihan. Si Phillip Kimpo Jr. ang kasalukuyang pangulo ng LIRA.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: LIRA FILIPINO POETRY CLINIC 2014

The Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo (LIRA), an organization of poets writing in Filipino, is now accepting sign-ups for its yearly poetry clinic.

The regular clinic period is from June to September and will be held every Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, although several more sessions will be held until November. The sessions will be held in UP Diliman and satellite venues in Metro Manila.

The accepted fellows will go through a series of lectures and workshops that focus on the different aspects of poetry and literature in general.

LIRA Poetry Clinic 2012

LIRA’s intensive training program seeks to hone poets who excel not only in their craft, but who are also dedicated to the fostering of literature, language, culture, and national identity. This is in line with the organization’s thrust of “poet-volunteerism,” which merited its declaration in 2011 as one of the nation’s Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations.

Applicants must submit one Word Document file containing the following: bio-data (with contact details), ID picture, and five poems in Filipino to palihanglira@gmail.com; SUBJECT LINE: LIRA Poetry Clinic 2014. (Poems in English and other languages will not be accepted.) All submissions should be in on or before April 30, 2014.

The LIRA Poetry Clinic was founded by National Artist for Literature Virgilio S. Almario (a.k.a. Rio Alma) and has been held yearly since 1985. Some of the country’s celebrated poets are products of the clinic, such as Rebecca T. Añonuevo, Roberto T. Añonuevo, Romulo P. Baquiran Jr., Michael M. Coroza, and Vim Nadera, as well as multi-awarded younger writers such as Jerry Gracio and Edgar Calabia Samar. Dr. Coroza of the Ateneo de Manila University is the current workshop director. Phillip Kimpo Jr. is the current LIRA president.
