With the main goal of having to inspire and enlighten hopeful filmmakers, REBELDE’S 2ND FILM CAMP will be a 3-day film camp inclusive of motivating talks from the film industry’s finest filmmakers in the country, bonding with fellow filmmakers, hands-on/ shooting activities, and many more.
The success of last year’s First Film Camp brought about our determination to organize a bigger and better 2nd Filmmaking Camp.
On May 1 to 3, we will be holding the 2nd Rebelde Film Camp at The Circle Hostel, La Union. Rebelde Film Camp is a 3-day and 3-night, out-of-the-box event that aims to gather filmmakers and cineastes in a camp-themed setting to celebrate films, build connections, learn filmmaking in the most enthusiastic way and refuel the drive to dream big.
We have also gathered 6 of the best names in the film industry to be our film camp mentors: Ricky Lee, Surf Reyes, Dan Villegas, Moira Lang, Angeli Bayani and Raymond Red.

Sine Tanglaw to Rebelde
REBELDE, formerly known as Sine Tanglaw, is a film production team behind films: Onang (Cinemalaya 2013, Best Director), Mga Ligaw na Paruparo (Cinemalaya 2014), and Moth in Twilight (Tropfest SEA Philippine Representative). Last year (2014), the team successfully held its first Film Camp (Sine Tanglaw Short Filmmaking Camp) in Antipolo, Rizal.
“Onang” (2013) was the first short film made by the formerly named production team, SINE TANGLAW. Onang was the first short film, directed by JE Tiglao, when he first decided to be a filmmaker in 2012.
A year later, Onang premiered in one of the most well-known independent film festival in the Philippines- Cinemalaya (2013), where JE Tiglao won Best Director. Onang was also a finalist for several other film festivals, such as CineFilipino Film Festival, United States R.I International FilmFest, and was nominated for Best Short Film in the 37th Gawad Urian. In the same year, Onang had been the most distributed short film in the country.
In 2014, together with the new members of Sine Tanglaw, JE Tiglao made his second short film for Cinemalaya 2014 entitled “Mga Ligaw na Paru-paro”.
In 2015, Sine Tanglaw will be officially changing the name to REBELDE, a word that would closely describe how the group associates our vision and goals. Rebelde is composed of misfits, insane dreamers and rebels of passion who have one goal that is to touch people’s hearts by telling stories using the art of filmmaking. Rebelde will be venturing to, not only FILM, but also other projects this year. One of those is the most-awaited 2nd Film Camp happening this May 1-3, 2015 in San Juan, La Union.
The Circle Hostel, La Union
To match the camp-theme of the most awaited 2nd #RebeldeFilmCamp, we chose The Circle Hostel in La Union to be the venue. It has a relaxing common area with pillows and hammock spaces. The beach is also few meters away. Also, we chose The Circle Hostel, La Union as our venue because we want our campers to learn from our mentors but also to be inspired by the environment we are in. It is best that we get them away from the hassles of the city life for a while so that we could all enjoy the activities prepared in this camp.
At last, we are proud to share the list of our award-winning mentors!
RICKY LEE, the most celebrated screenwriter in the country. He is the writer of the classic film, HIMALA.
SURF REYES, one of the founding members of the Mowelfund Institute
ANGELI BAYANI, one of the most revered award-winning actress. She is part of Lav Diaz’s NORTE.
MOIRA LANG, acclaimed writer, producer and actor. She produced Lav Diaz’s NORTE.
RAYMOND RED, one of the pioneers of modern Philippine Alternative Cinema.
